At the end of April 2022, longtime 'Fast & Furious' director Justin Lin made the surprising announcement that he was stepping down from the 10th and final film, just days into production. He called it a "difficult decision" and expressed his gratitude and respect for the cast, crew, and studio. A week later, sources say that Lin's exit was due to a major disagreement with the franchises' star, Vin Diesel. It was reported that Lin was unhappy with frequent changes to the script that resulted from the fact that one filming location was unavailable due to the war in Ukraine and one of the villains hadn't been cast yet. Diesel and the studio allegedly continued to push for changes against Lin's wishes. One source said: “Justin finally had enough and said, ‘This movie is not worth my mental health.’”

This wouldn't be the first time Vin Diesel had an alienating conflict with a colleague. He has been involved in a longstanding feud with Dwayne Johnson, who appeared in several films before quitting the franchise due to the difficult relationship with his co-star.
